This remodel turned an outdated home into a beautiful, functional space that truly honors its original charm. Designed for a growing family of five, we reimagined the main floor by relocating the kitchen, adding a cozy family room and powder room, and creating a seamless indoor/outdoor flow. A three-panel accordion door opens to a newly designed rear patio, effortlessly connecting the home to the outdoors. Full-width stairs lead from the lower rear entrance to the elevated patio, which now serves as a peaceful gathering spot between the main home and the new carriage house.
The kitchen, once tucked away in the basement, is now the heart of the home. We reworked the stairs to improve flow and turned the basement into a warm family room. A glass railing between the kitchen and family room enhances the openness. The third floor was expanded to create three spacious kids’ bedrooms, a built-in library, and a thoughtfully designed bath.
We also designed and built a detached carriage house, blending a home gym, guest suite, and garage for a classic off-road vehicle into one versatile space. Despite city restrictions, we found creative solutions to deliver a space that feels both functional and welcoming, used every day by the homeowners.
